Not only did the King of Pop arrive to the ’95 VMAs in a decked-out patent leather jacket, skinny jeans and gold leg armor ensemb’, but this was the year he performed a 15-minute medley of his hits “Beat It,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Black or White” and “Smooth Criminal.” Whewwww, whatta show.

Janet–who won a Best Dance Video Moonman for her video “Scream” with Michael–wore a crop top with “Pervert” written across the back paired with wide-leg trousers and a perfectly-messy pixie. This year, Nicki Minaj also wore a “Pervert” tee in her “Feeling Myself” vid with Beyonce—Janet’s impact, y’all.

  1. You are right, of course. It will forever be one of my greatest regrets, however, that I didn’t pay closer attention while “he had him”. I always liked him, of course, but it took his death to make me fall in love with him. A forever sadness…
The children and young people who are discovering him give me hope that even though they only have youtubes, short films and concert videos they, too, are falling in love with him. And they have the advantage that the vicious media that nearly destroyed him have little bearing on their world.

  2. Wow! This performance still gives me goosebumps.
NO ONE generates that kind of hysteria today. People are enraptured by him.
    He looked happy here.
As his 57th bday approaches, we are reminded again of just how much we lost…. 😦

    • But at least, as Dr. Maya said, “We had him.” We can be grateful that we got to experience Michael during our lifetime and he will forever in our hearts.♥ I feel sorry for those in the future who will only know him from short films and Youtube. They won’t know what it’s like to excited about the premiere of a Michael Jackson film, the award shows, the clothing fads, a new album or even seeing him live.
