I believe no article or review could actually do this show justice. The reason I say this is that the absolute grandeur and visual/auditory impact has to be experienced, it needs to be seen and heard. The analogy is like someone describing a song. You can repeat the lyrics and tell someone about the song, but it’s not the same as hearing it, for example, Billie Jean or Thriller. Two of the many songs that you will get to experience from the array of Michael Jackson’s brilliant career.
When I tell you that my senses were bombarded throughout the hour and a half, I am expressing bombarded in the sheerest delight of the senses. Michael’s music has always been at the top for me and this performance takes it over the top… Liken it to a buffet of the best of Michael Jackson’s music coupled with Cirque du Soleil style entertainment. It’s the best of both worlds.
It’s surround sound music and entertainment. I was constantly deciding where to put my attention. Both side walls, overhead, and the stage area were providing visual excitement.
The overall show is powerful, and unlike The Beatles Love, where I left feeling a sense of lightness, joy, hugs and kisses, with Michael Jackson’s One, I felt more of a sense of empowerment, and a need to do something meaningful in the world to make a difference. I felt a stirring in my own personal life and creativity. Power and inspiration were the themes for me.
There is really no comparison for me in terms of the other Cirque du Soliel shows and I have seen many of them. They are all well worth attending and have a sense of magic and wonder to them however, for me, Michael Jackson’s One goes three steps further.
The standout number comes towards the end of the performance when Michael has been recreated as a hologram. I trust that you will be seeing the show when you head to Las Vegas, so I want this to remain a surprise for you. I had never seen anything like it and I am still left awe struck by this artistic feat.
I have the highest regard for Michael Jackson’s creativity and artistry and Cirque du Soleil has found a way to bring this magic to life for us in Michael Jackson’s One. This show is Not to be missed.
