When you’re part of one of the most successful musical acts of all time, you can get away with being critical of the current state of pop music without too many people rolling their eyes.
Enter: T-Boz of TLC, who says modern music is frivolous fluff.
There’s not a lot of superstars out anymore, if you’ve noticed. Like, they’re sprinkled here and there, but back in the day, in the ’90s, you would have REM out with Hootie and the Blowfish, Garth Brooks, TLC, Michael Jackson, Janet. It would be like everybody back-to-back — Madonna. But now, those days aren’t here anymore! … There’s hardly no lyrical content. That’s missing. It’s more about twerking and whatever’s happening (and is) hot for that moment. That type of music just doesn’t last. It’s good for today.
