Created by Joseph Shabalala based on a series of dreams he had, the all-male a cappella group Ladysmith Black Mambazo from South Africa has been around for more than 50 years.
The award-winning singers will perform at the Music Center at Strathmore at 8 p.m. Friday.
Ladysmith Black Mambazo has won numerous awards, including two Drama Desk awards and four Grammys. They recorded their first album in 1973 and have since gone on to record more than 50 — many of those picking up gold and/or platinum certification.
The group is probably better known for their work with Paul Simon on his “Graceland” album, or recording with The Winans, George Clinton, and even Michael Jackson.
Tickets for the show are $28-$69. More more information, visit strathmore.org, or call 301-581-5100.
