Michael Jackson is on course for a posthumous Number One album with ‘Xscape’, beating nearest rivals The Black Keys at the midweek point.
Official Chart Company data reveals that ‘Xscape’ is ahead of The Black Keys’ ‘Turn Blue’. Should the album stay at the top, it will be Jackson’s 10th UK Number One record. The final chart will be revealed on BBC Radio 1 this Sunday (May 17).
There are ten other new entries on this week’s Official Albums Chart Update with Foxes’ debut ‘Glorious’ new at Number Three. Elsewhere, Tori Amos is set to return to the Top 10 with her latest effort ‘Unrepentant Geraldines’ at Number Nine at the midway stage. Nick Mulvey’s ‘First Mind’ is close behind at Number 10.
Other new entries are due from Little Dragon (11), Blondie (12), Dutch Eurovision contestants The Common Linnets (27), Chromeo (28), Swans (36) and Bruce Springsteen’s ‘The Spirit Of Radio’, a collection of broadcasts from the early ’70s.
In the Official Singles Chart, Rita Ora has finds herself at Number One with her Calvin Harris produced single ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ ahead of the current Number One, Mt Probz’ ‘Waves.’
The 2014 Eurovision Song Contest plays a major role in the outcome of this week’s Singles Chart with The Common Linnets single ‘Calm After The Storm’ following their album up the chart, currently sitting at Number Five. Austrian winner Conchita Wurst is at Number Nine with ‘Rise Like A Phoenix’, while Swedish entrant Sanna Nielsen is Number 24 with ‘Undo.’
Other new entries in this week’s Singles Chart at the midweek point come from The Janoskians and Basim.
