The energy was through the roof inside “The Voice” arena, as the first round of the live playoffs began.
Team’s Adam and Usher were first up as the eliminations are now in the hands of the American public. The task is to cut the competition down to 12 contestants who will battle it out for the ultimate vocal crown – and it’s not going to be easy.
But the coach’s jobs are far from over. Now is the time that they finesse their team members into the stars they can only become by working with veteran talent like Blake Shelton, Shakira, Adam Levine and Usher.
The Live Playoffs have arrived!
Team Usher consists of Cathia, Vedo, Josiah Hawley and Michelle Chamuel
“Team work makes the dream work,” Usher said.
Team Levine is full of female vocalists – - Judith Hill, Amber Carrington, Sarah Simmons and Caroline Glaser.
In the final performance of the night, Team Adam’s Judith Hill came to the stage to perform “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone.
While she seemed to have an unfair advantage early on in the competition with her background as a back up for Michael Jackson, Hill quickly realized what a challenge this show truly is.
But her soulful voice was immediately captivating on stage and I never wanted it to end. She gave Nina Simone a run for her money and looked absolutely beautiful doing it.
Hill truly played the part of a superstar and it showed on the faces of all the coaches.
She is still definitely among the strongest contenders in this show and could very well take the whole win home.
While Hill holds control of the song and doesn’t falter she also has a performance aspect to her that some of the others just don’t possess. The greatest part about her is that she doesn’t look like she has to try very hard to get there.
The audience felt it too with their continued cheers and clapping well after she completed her 90 seconds on stage.
“You’re such a diva. You’re such a freaking diva. That was awesome,” Shelton said.
“You came out here and you took us to church,” Usher added.
“You look beautiful first of all,” Levine began. “We all know that you can sing but to convey your personality as a singer is also a skill and that was cool what you just did.”
Voting is officially opened directly following Hill’s performance and closes at 10am EST Tuesday.
Now “The Voice” is in America’s hands.
